Information Booth Volunteers are responsible for answering the questions of festival-goers. They will need to know locations and times of events as
well as locations of first aid kits, bathrooms, food, parking, etc. The primary information booth will be located in the exhibitor's hall at the Deadwood
Pavilion. A small information table will be set up in the elementary school.
Hosts are responsible for greeting and seating guests and ensure that Festival-goers are having a pleasant experience.
They will keep track of the number of people who attend sessions and confirm with the moderator. In the event a moderator fails to
show up, the greeter will serve as a moderator. A/V and technical skills are a plus as greeters will assist with running equipment if
needed.
Session Moderators are responsible for introducing the author and making general announcements before their presentation. The moderators will also watch the time
to keep on schedule. They will ensure the author(s) stops their presentation and allows time for audience questions and may need to
encourage audience participation.
Author Check-In Volunteer will provide authors with festival materials, ensure that each author has the appropriate accomodations
and is informed about planned Festival activities. The volunteers for this duty are primarily needed on Thursday and Friday morning.
Author Hospitality Volunteers are responsible for preparing and serving refreshments to authors who are taking breaks. Volunteers
should be familiar with Festival activities, places to eat and visit.
Transportation Volunteers will transport authors around the Black Hills area, primarily providing transportation for authors between the Rapid City
Regional Airport and Deadwood. Drivers will be reimbursed for mileage.
